blooms & books: springtime activities for romance & reading

spring is in full bloom here is the foothills of north carolina! march gave us daffodils popped up all alongside the roads and april has been full of tulips, peonies and cherry blossoms. even though fall is my favorite of all the seasons, spring definitely comes in at a close second. and what better way to celebrate the arrival of spring with some fun floral and bookish activities!

  1. book and bloom club: start a book club with a floral twist! each month, select a romance novel or women's fiction book with themes of love, renewal, or nature. coordinate with your club members to choose a bouquet of flowers inspired by the book's setting or cover. meet virtually or in person to discuss the book while surrounded by the fragrance and beauty of fresh blooms.

  2. floral bookmarks: get crafty and create your own floral bookmarks inspired by your favorite romance novels. gather pressed flowers or floral stickers, along with some sturdy cardstock or laminated paper. decorate the bookmarks with the flowers, adding quotes from the books for an extra touch of literary charm. these personalized bookmarks will not only keep your place in your current read but also add a touch of springtime beauty to your book collection.

  3. literary garden picnic: combine two pleasures in one by hosting a literary garden picnic surrounded by flowers. choose a cozy spot in your garden or a local botanical garden and set up a picnic blanket adorned with cushions and vases of fresh flowers. pack a basket with your favorite romance novels, along with some light snacks and refreshments. spend the afternoon lounging in the sunshine, lost in the pages of a captivating book amidst the beauty of blooming flowers.

  4. floral poetry reading: host an intimate gathering with friends or family for a floral poetry reading. Invite guests to bring their favorite love poems or passages from romance novels that evoke the imagery of flowers and springtime. create a serene atmosphere by arranging bouquets of flowers around the reading space and dimming the lights for added ambiance. as each guest takes turns reading aloud, allow the beauty of the flowers and the power of words to transport you to worlds of romance and enchantment.

  5. bookstore botanical tour: embark on a literary and botanical adventure by visiting a bookstore with a garden or floral section. browse the shelves for romance novels and women's fiction books while taking breaks to explore the botanical offerings. admire the array of flowers and plants on display, and perhaps even pick up a potted plant or bouquet to bring home as a keepsake of your literary excursion.

by infusing your love for books with the beauty of flowers, you can create memorable experiences that engage your senses and nourish your soul. whether you're discussing novels amidst a bouquet of blooms or reading poetry in a garden, these activities offer the perfect blend of literary and floral inspiration.
