dressing the countess by rachel brimble

Okay, before I get into what this book is about and what I think about it so far, can we take a moment to appreciate the absolutely stunning cover? Harpeth Road really puts out some beautiful covers but this one might be my favorite yet. I fell in love with this cover from the first time I saw it and the story within it is just as enchanting.

Seamstress Rose Watson cannot believe her good fortune when she’s plucked from obscurity to work for Lady Christina, the Countess of Bath.
When she arrives at the royal residence of Henlow House, a sense of destiny whispers through her. But once she meets saddler Henry Ward, her dreams are met with challenge of every kind. Rose’s new connection to Henry could cause her to lose her position at Henlow House, which would destroy her.
Will she be forced to choose between love and ambition? Either choice would change her life irrevocably.

Dressing the Countess is the first historical fiction novel from Harpeth Road and even though I’m not finished reading it yet, I already love it. It’s one of those books that hooks you from the beginning, which I really appreciate. There have been books I’ve really gone on to enjoy, some have even become favorites, but they took awhile to get into or I had to start them more than once. That’s definitely not the case with this one! From Chapter One, I loved the character of Rose. Her spunky attitude, the way she dreams big unapologetically, and values loyalty to her family makes you root for her from the start.

I can’t wait to curl up with it again tonight!
